True Story! I swear!

So this afternoon, I decided to hit Tom Thumb and shop for some items I needed before I headed back home. So, down I went looking for Dish Soap wearing my running shorts and while I was deciding whether to spend $2.99 or $8.99 for the bigger bottle of dish soap, suddenly a sixty year old man abruptly stops at the end of the isle and says:

60YOM - "Holy Cow! You are Brown!"

ME - I was startled by the sudden interruption from the odd stranger. "Uhm, yeah, I'm brown."
I'd like to say that I wanted to laugh out loud. I mean, really! I was born light brown, and I do tend to darkened when I hit the pool. duh!

60YOM - "How did you do it?" He looks at me up and down. Weird. "Wait, don't tell me, you've been going to the pool?

ME- "Actually, I have."

60YOM - "Wow, well, you look great. I am golfing tomorrow and I hope I can as brown as you."

Me- "Good luck!"

Seriously, this world needs a life!!!

Goofy Stuff!

So one day, we had nothing to do but build Ponyville.

Sofia may look like me, but it's nothing like me. Coco killed this lizard, Sofia had to make sure he was dead and was pretty intrigued by how it looked. Raquel and I stayed behind...

Again, nothing I ever did at her age.

Look Mommy!

One of the fishies died. We were all shocked.

Yep, we buried it. Sofia finally named it, Lucy.

We said a prayer.

On more happier times, Sofia reading Clifford to Coco Beware.

Coco, the Princess!

While Sofia practiced her cartwheels, Coco stayed in that same position watching Sofia.

We made cupcakes, and they ate cupcakes before they were cooked!
Times two!

My babies had the flu last week and here she is acting goofy!

Sofia's Preschool Graduation

After a long hiatus, not because I didn't have anything to say or show, but because I was under a personal deadline that I had to meet.

Well, since I'm here, I'll start with what's been going on lately with us.

Sofia's Preschool graduation! It was bittersweet. To think she started going at 18 months old for only two days up to her 4 year old class was like closing a chapter and to begin a new one.

Sofia and Valentina, they both stared the program since they were 18 months!

Wearing her flower lei!

Here's Raquel with her candy lei while John showed her to do the shaka.

Here's Sofia sitting among her schoolmates who also started since they were babies!

Recieving her certificate!

Posing with her teacher, Ms. Bridget!

Auntie Vanessa

Abuelito

Beign goofy with Raquel

With the new Director!

Enjoying her graduation balloons!

R.I.P. - Roger Ebert

My favorite movie critic has passed on to a better life in the heavens! Rest in peace. I've enjoyed your reviews very much even though politically we differred.

Vitamin D Deficient

So I've been feeling sick for the last month and after three different rounds of antibiotic, I asked my Doctor to draw some blood and test to see what is wrong with me besides my depression which is practically my main source of illness.

So the verdict came in and, praise the Lord, everything looks fine but my vitamin D is low! It's supposed to be up there in the high numbers and is down there in the very low numbers of what it shouldn't be. So, he gave me Vitamin D to take once a week for the next three months and I need to retest my blood end of June.

Then, I sought Google to tell me what Vitamin D Deficiency is all about and this is what I found:

Vitamin D deficiency can occur for a number of reasons:

You don't consume the recommended levels of the vitamin over time. This is likely if you follow a strict vegetarian diet, because most of the natural sources are animal-based, including fish and fish oils, egg yolks, cheese, fortified milk, and beef liver. - I happen to eat egss every morning but I'm lacking Nemo regularly.

Your exposure to sunlight is limited. Because the body makes vitamin D when your skin is exposed to sunlight, you may be at risk of deficiency if you are homebound, live in northern latitudes, wear long robes or head coverings for religious reasons, or have an occupation that prevents sun exposure. - It has been winter here in Dallas so this could be the reason why I haven't been outside.

You have dark skin. The pigment melanin reduces the skin's ability to make vitamin D in response to sunlight exposure. Some studies show that older adults with darker skin are at high risk of vitamin D deficiency. - I don't like to get any darker than what I am already. I don't like to even out but I don't like tanning that's for sun lovers.

Your kidneys cannot convert vitamin D to its active form. As people age their kidneys are less able to convert vitamin D to its active form, thus increasing their risk of vitamin D deficiency.- Hmmm....my kidneys have been giving me problems.

Your digestive tract cannot adequately absorb vitamin D. Certain medical problems, including Crohn's disease, cystic fibrosis, and celiac disease, can affect your intestine's ability to absorb vitamin D from the food you eat.

You are obese. Vitamin D is extracted from the blood by fat cells, altering its release into the circulation. People with a body mass index of 30 or greater often have low blood levels of vitamin D. - I have a problem with this and my doctor urge me to start losing weight or else!

Easter 2013

What to do for Easter?

I know! Let's work on the egg shells! Let's dye them! In other words, let me teach you how to do it so that in the coming years, Sofia and Raquel will just do them! Our fingers were blue but they love dying them!

We did about 75 of them!

This took about three days to finish it. Second day, we stuff them with confetti! Several broke but they had fun!

They were signing!

and they were laughing!

 On Saturday, we covered them.

Then we invited the cousins to help us break them!

Yep, they had fun! We already saving egg shells for next year!

My Favorite Things this Month - March 2013

1. Green Chili Tortillas - Yum! Spicy Tortillas from Sprouts! I will try anything that is spicy and these do not dissapoint! They make great quesadillas!

2. Houston, Texas - The last time we traveled to Houston was back in 2007 when we did our Marriage Weekend and it was bittersweet to go back and present our talk. I'd have never thought I would ever go back, much less to give a talk. Praise the Lord for only He knows what He has prepare for us!

3. The Bible Series - So the History channel did a bible series that ended yesterday and it did not dissapoint. Daniel was one of my favorite parts along with the Jesus crucifixion and Paul's story. Amazing!

4. Pop Fly - By Justin Roberts, Sofia's favorite song! I love it too and we all dance to it. I already know all the words for it!

Five on Friday - Lines

1.What’s the longest line you’ve ever stood in?

Recently, Six Flags and it is never fun when you have a 5 year old and a 3 year old asking you why you can't just walk up to the ride and get on it.

2.When did you have the most fun waiting in line?

At Braums, to wait for my food.

3.What line, no matter how long or short it is, always drives you crazy?

At the grocery store! I want to go in and out in a flash and I hate it when people stand in line with gazillions of stuff at the express line!

4.When did you last behave in a manner that was over the line?

uhm......I don't want to disclose this one. I take the 5th.

5.What are some lines of poetry you can recite from memory?

I like this, very true:

Write Drunk, Edit Sober.

It's poetry to me.

Spring Break - Six Flags

It was 80 degrees in Dallas. It was hot for March. Oh, and crowded and it was decided that we will never again go in Spring Break. But what mattered the most is that Sofia and Rauel had a blast! Here's at the Tea Cup ride. This was definately a new one for us, since before we had our girls, I never dreamed on getting into these type of rides.

At El Sombrero ride.

This was the longest ride we had to wait on. 45 minutes to get our food! Thankfully, our girls were very patient.

Holding on to dear life! Raquel doesn't like heights at all! Sofia had a blast and was throwing her arms up in the air like she just didn't care.

All by themselves!

At the train!

The Boot Ride!

And we finished it up at Braums with the cousins!

When Sofia gets tired, she gets goofy!

These two are just goofy!
