Catching Up

I have been very very busy with everything else that I have been putting off our blog. So, here's a rundown of what's been happening!

Not many people understand how busy life can get when you are blessed with children, for those who do understand. Thank  you.

When life hits you in the face, in this instance on Raquel's forehead, lean on those who love you no matter what.

In good times and in bad, through thick and thin, for better or for worse, for richer or for poorer.

When you are feeling down, there is someone close to you who can make you smile!

and when in pain (Poison Ivy in this case) is nice to know you can find empathy through a camera lens.

All your hard work, one day may bare fruit, in this case Asparagus.

Beets

And if life is bringing you down take time to look at what's going on around you even if it's the simplest thing.

Touching Coco (our new Chihuahua) always helps!

or not! puzzling looks can also be consider cute.

But let's never forget those who will always be there for us with unconditional love!

and if you think of running away, look behind you, there are people who love you just as you are!

and never want to let you go!

South Beach

Four weeks ago, on a Friday evening, I've had it. Enough, I said, "John, would you like to join me on losing weight on the South Beach diet?" His response was, "sure." It didn't take a lot convincing or arm bending but the next morning, we dusted off the South Beach books and started changing our eating lifestyle and today, I got on the scale and I have lost 11 pounds! and John has lost 19 pounds!

I went from 146lbs to 135lbs! and we are running every week and I'm wearing my belt to hold my pants up!

The first and last time we did the South Beach diet was in 2005 and I also had great results but, we soon forgot about it and we stopped.

Six years later, we are older, wiser, beaten up by life and with two little girls, we decided that it was time to eat healthy not just for our health but to see Sofia and Raquel grow up.

I'm not selling South Beach to anyone reading this post; this program may not be for everyone, the difference here is that you must cook all of the recipes, along the way this program teaches you the proper healthy food and the "unhealthy" foods, whole wheat vs. whole grain and you also unearth new foods you have never tried before. We eat the most delicious foods w/out feeling guilty and dessert every night, but what also works is drinking about 3 to 4 liters of water a day.

Now, my weight prior to getting pregnant with Raquel was 127lbs. My ideal weight goal is 125lbs, so here I come to my healthy self once again! So, go off and feed your metabolism the right stuff!

Movies We Watch

Movie: Tron: Legacy

FLYNN LIVES! John and I tried to recalled the first Tron back in the 80's and we both agreed that we have no clue what it was about. All I remember was that it went over my head and I went to sleep; the same happened to John.

Starring Jeff Bridges playing his younger self and older self, this movie is about Kevin Flynn (Jeff Bridges) vanishing from earth and everyone is looking for him including his son Sam Flynn, 25 years later, Sam finds his father in a "Matrix" kind of world where everyone is a program. We loved the motorcycle game! Now, Sam wants out of that world but it may cost him his life and/or his father's life to go back. Amazing movie! We're watching the first Tron, hopefully this time, it won't go over our heads or fall asleep!

We give it: 4 1/2 stars!

Movie: The Fighter

It was about time someone came up with a great boxing movie, this one it is! Not a Rocky IV movie, but it sure had us guessing whether he was going to win a title or not! I even called my brother to see if he had heard of Mickey Ward! Great movie, about family conflicts and how family can either lift you up or drag you down with them.

We give it: 4 1/2 stars!

Movie: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

Since John and I have read all of the Harry Potter books, there is really no surprises by watching the movie, all we look for is how close the movie is to the book and we were not disappointed. I read a lot of negative reviews on this movie that it wasn't exciting, but clearly, if anyone of these reviewers have read the book, they will know that the exciting part comes after Harry, Hermione and Ron leave the fortress to search for the remaining horcruxes.  They did a good job on bringing Hermione and Harry alone in the fortress and how they were able to sneak in and out of the ministry. We can't wait for the final movie!

We give it: 4 stars

Vintage Ads...

From classic... to...
Trashy...but I do love the Vogue song with all the hand dance tricks...Just saying.

I remember my mom having one of this. Good ol days! But nowdays, beer cans do open very easy! I guess someone saw this coming in the near future.

Fast and Easy, The American Way! No need to sweat!

Someone nees to come up with something like this again, I need to grow so more.

I think nowadays it's call: Botox.

I couldn't help it...

nope, I will not ride a cab. I'd rather walk.

John would love one of these...

What!!!??? If my girls ever spoke to me this way, there would be some booty slaps!

How you ask? I ignore them and let them be! or let the dog licks it off!

I thought men liked masks...

I couldn't help this one either. I vote: B.

How long

No one knows
the tears still inside me.

People think it's all past.
They think I'm all better.

Every once in a while
I think, I hope, I pray
that things will be better too.

But then I remember.
And the pain floods back,
and the bottom falls out,
and I fall and I fall.

And I know once again
that things aren't all better.
My loved one is gone,
and I cry alone.

How much longer, God?
How long does this last?
