My Favorite Things This Month - January

1. World Market - I like this store. But I like it even more when they have great sales, like 50% off on furniture. After owning our dining table with a broken leg for the last 8 years, we decided that it was time to replace it. So, we went to World Market and bought our new dining table. But it wasn't 50% off, it was 60% off! The cashier asked if I was a member, I said, "not yet." So, she I became I member and she gave an extra 10% off on all my purchases that day! yey!

2. Personal Interior Decorator - I can sew but I cannot decorate my house or anything around me. I'm pretty clueless. I know what I like, but I usually don't buy it because I'm unsure of where to put it. My sister, Yesenia is the opposite. So, I hired her and she did amazing! My house is starting to look like descent people live here.

3. Seasoning Blend - I hate cooking. Let me say that again. I hate cooking. But I want my daughters to eat healthy and since I cannot afford a chef or a maid to cook for us, I must do the cooking. This month, I discover, Seasoning Blend. I discovered that I can put it on anything and it makes everything taste good! So, I have found another seasoning to work along while I cook.

4. Patience - This month I also discovered that patience is truly a virtue. The Lord wants me to wait on Him and not worry about my unemployment status. It has taken me four long months to finally let go and let God do his work. Breath in, breath out and pray.

Grandpa Williams

May the Lord embrace you with his mercy, love and forgiveness. I feel blessed I got to see you one last time and that you loved the cup of coffee I made you. Say hi to my Dad for me.

We will always remember you.

Five on Friday - The Worst is Behind Us

1.What’s the most adventurous thing you’ve done in the past six months?

Open ing a Meetup group while unemployed. I guess I need to fill my time opening and closing, cleaning and organizing.

2.What recently could qualify as a happy accident?

Being laid-off. This week Sofia said to me, "I'm so happy you are with me every day mommy." This has certainly allow me to prioritize my life.

3.When did you last experience Buyer’s Remorse?

Only when I buy things for myself.

4.In what way do people keep underestimating you?

By pre-judging my character before getting to know me. They judge I'm a big "B" then months or years later they realize I'm not that type of person.

5.What have you got in your pocket?

A lonely Penny. Sofia and Raquel put coins in my pockets whenever they find one laying around the house.

5 Things About Me Today

1. To send or not to send Raquel to Little Saints for the upcoming school year this fall. The program is changing and many, many moms are not happy about it. I'm ok with the change but I'm not happy with the amount of money they are charging next fall. If I was working, I would still probably do it, but since, I'm not, I am weighing where to send Raquel. She's definately not going 5 days. Three will do. I have toured St. Paul's Parents Day Out and the Director and I couldn't stop talking. We clicked. Which is a good sign, but then I also have St. Joseph's Mother's Day Out program to consider but I do love Little Saints program so much. I am torn. We must decide soon.

2. My vintage Etzy Shop is doing great! I have to admit there are weeks that nothing happens but when it happens, I'm running to the post office more than once a week to ship my items and tomorrow, I'm shipping to AUSTRALIA! Isn't that amazing! This is my second international shipping! I'm hooked on Etzy! I just wish I had more time to go to more Estate Sales but time and money are tight sometimes but I do feel blessed the Lord is blessing me this way as well!

3. I'm glad I got to see Granpa Williams this past Christmas. I made him Coffee and he brought me cookies. I will not see him at the hospital as he lays there waiting for the Lord to take him. I do not want to remember him this way.

4. I had a phone interview last week which had me excited, it was located in Richardson doing recruiting and sourcing but flexibility and/or telecommuting 16 hours a week was a problem for the employer. I explained my personal dilemma and he said, "I'll give you $5,000 more if you take your daughters out of the mother's day out program and place them in a regular daycare." I said no. My priorities cannot change for any amount of money I am offered. This is the third time I had to decline a job offer.

5. Well, I'm running again and last week, I ran 10 miles, wohooo!!. I'm committing to running every week and not lose sight of taking care of my health.

Hapennings!

I need to commit and blog so more now that I am a unemployed stay home mom, I should have more free time to do this but I don't! So, here's what's been happening lately in our crazy world!

John bought about three kids board games for us to play with the girls and so far the count goes something like this: Raquel 10 wins, Sofia 1, Daddy, 1, Mom, 1. Last night as Raquel won twice in a row, John said that if we ever go to Las Vegas, Raquel will definately be joining us at the Casinos.

Either Raquel doesn't care to win or she's just plain lucky!

Beauty Shop! Sofia playing Manolo (my hairdresser.) She was styling Raquel's hair. She said Raquel needed a new look as in, "she needs to get rid of those curls, mom!"

Raquel was loving all the pampering!

Sofia is full of ideas!

Now Raquel's turn!

Boxes + Children = Fun!

They fell hard on the floor several times but they just kept going.

De-stressing from work. Tackling Rapunzel's hair on a Friday night.

Rock on!

My Cutie pie!

My Angel!

As if having three dogs in the house wasn't enough already, John decided it was time to own two fishes. I was the only not excited about this.

John likes to cook so this time, he decided to cook up some Salvadorean Pupusas without having all the ingrediants. It was alright.

Resolutions 2013

I forgot to post this earlier but here it goes:

1. Wait on the Lord. Be patient and be joyful.

2. I hate diets; I feel constrained but I can't eat like its 1999 anymore so I've decided to cut my portions smaller with an occasional alcholic drink here and there the same goes with pies....hmmmm. I love pies but I also love to feel healthy so half a portion of pie will do.

3. Keep up with my running! I have been so bad since I got laid off and my goal is to run 15 miles each week. That will surely burn some serious fat off my waist.

4. I have to work not allow myself to be easily discourage. I have to remember: "Do not give up; the beginning is always the hardest." I must remind myself this everyday and pick myself up.

5. Join a church ministry. I don't thinkI do enough with only volunteering with Retrouvaille. All Saints has asked me to join their woman's circle even though they all range in the 60's age group.

Five on Friday - Sum

1.Who stands out among people you met in 2012?

I reconnected with my best friend again so in a way we met each other all over again.

2.What new interest did you discover in 2012?

I discovered Etzy and the high it gives me when I sell an item.

3.In what way was 2012 better than 2011?

We were finally able to take a vacation! South Padre was great and we finally remodeled our bedroom!

4.What small, symbolic item might serve as a good souvenir for 2012?

I used to hold on to items to remind me of  things that would soon come to the past but not anymore. I'm just grateful to be with my husband and daughters each and everyday of their lives.

5.Many years from now, what song, when you hear it on the radio, will remind you most of 2012?

"Call Me, Maybe." Stupid, stupid song! But my husband and daughters dance to it. I'd much prefer to turn to my 80's retro music.
